GUARANTEED at least two S.E. stations per colony state. Also included - Super contest stations, multi-operator Club stations & OM & XYL teams.

A magnificent NEW, full color, 8 1/2"x11", certificate, printed on heavy card stock, withthe state flags of all the 1776 colony states, adorning this award. You can work one state or, all 13 and, be eligible for the certificate.
The theme for 2011 is the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration adorns the 2011 certificate-very cool. see above. Also a special "Contact" logo will be affixed if you worked one or all 13 stations. A "Clean Sweep" indicator will also be affixed, for those lucky enough to "Q" all 13.
Each year a completely new design with a new Independence Era Patriotic theme..NICE!
2012-"Colonial Naval" theme. (Featuring a large/excellent etching of the "Privateer-The USS Bonhomme-Richard" ) 1st Colonial Ship of the Line-Commanded by Capt. John Paul Jones, and also featuring the first Colonial Naval Jack.
2013-"Banners of the Revolution" Four large Colonial flags, featuring the Gadsden Banner (Don't Tread On Me) and the 13 star Betsy Ross.
 
Special event call signs will be used (K2A Thru K2M).
All modes of operation should be represented-SSB, CW, RTTY,Digital, Etc. - The mode of operation is up to the individual colony state station. Please refer to the Station information page for details.

Each OP is to send a contact log stating the Date, UTC, Band, & call sign of each contact, and a BLANK QSL CARD +$4.00 US. (to help defray printing costs). PLEASE NO STAMPS. NO SASE required. We will furnish postage, certificate and 9"x12" envelope via 1st class mail. The certificate will NOT be folded.

IMPORTANT: Make check or money order payable to Ken Villone-KU2US.
The blank QSL card is needed because sometime we cannot read some folks hand writing :) All the info is on your card, which insures you will get the certificate in short order.
You may print out a log form for your use from our website (see below).
All award requests and payment to be sent and made out to the award manager-KU2US (Address on QRZ.com).
QSL CARDS
K2A (NY-KU2US) will issue a special event QSL card for a QSO with K2A for those Ops that request one in lieu of the certificate. SASE Please and your FULL DATA-QSL CARD for return QSL card only. You can have the certificate, or the QSL card for K2A, or both if you want.
K2A cannot send QSL cards for the other Colony Stations, Just for K2A in NY.
Other Colony stations MAY offer a special QSL card also. Inquire to their home call on QRZ.com OR check their State information page by clicking on the state map above or the call listing below. Not all will do this.
BANDS
All HF bands will be in play except the WARC bands and 60 meters. The Colony stations will be operating on or near the"13" of each band (Eg.14.213, 14.013,14.313, 7.213, 7.013, etc.). 2 meters and 6 meter simplex are encouraged.
The SE stations are on the east coast and, are very close to each other. It will be harder for these states to contact each other so, use of 40m-160m is encouraged.
The 4th of July, 2011 lands on a Monday, which means that you can work us starting Friday to Tuesday.. Due to popular demand, we will run the event all 5 days like in 2010. Times will be: 12:01 AM Eastern start on July 1st, (Thats one minute after midnight early Friday morning July 1st) to 11:59 PM Eastern ending on July 5th (One minute to midnight late Tuesday night July 5th).
This SE will be annual each year, with a different spectacular multi-color certificate for variety - be sure to collect all issues. This is going to be fun, and hopefully the propagation gods will be co-operative - BETTER THAN 2009!

THE SATELLITES ARE ON THE AIR AGAIN!
Most of the "13" Colonies will have a Satellite station for you to work, just like last year! A special satellite logo will be affixed to your certificate if you make a contact with one or all of the "Birds"..We are still working on this, so watch this page.
We may just have all "13" Colonies represented by air time. We now have 10 States.
New for 2011
ATTENTION all short wave listeners (SWLs). You will also qualify for the certificate. Follow the instructions above when you submit your log and in place of "Your Call", indicate "SWL". A special SWL logo will be affixed to the certificate for you. One or all 13 stations logged qualifies you. Consider becoming a HAM too! Look at all the fun we are having!
DX STATIONS We all welcome your participation. We thank you for wanting to participate in our celebration of Independence, and look forward to making a "Q" with you also. Please join in on the fun with all of us. There is NO increased fee for DX stations for postage if you wish to have the certificate. All funds must be in US. Dollars.
 
SPECIAL EVENT CALLS:
Most Colony states will have two operators running the special event stations on a rotating/alternating basis to insure continued presence for the five day event. We want everyone to have a "Q". All call signs for the Colony Stations will be Listed Below and up-dated regularly. If you hear any station On HF that does not match the call signs below-THEY ARE PIRATES.

A few stations did operate as pirate stations, asking that you send your certificate request and $4 to them. They will not count as a Colony contact. It's a shame some folks will stoop that low, but it happens. There have been reports of false spotting of our Colony Stations on the different DX threads. We are asking anyone involved to PLEASE refrain from doing this. We are all out to have fun and celebrate the 4th of July together, so please join in on the fun with us!

Please have patience! We made 12,500 "Q"s in 2009 and 34,273 in 2010! For 2011 we expect that "Q" figure to increase dramatically, especially if Propagation & weather is better, and static/QRN levels are lower. Pile-Ups will be a ZOO! but we will be prepared. We have learned alot in 2009 & 2010, and we will employ some different tactics to hear everybody. But please remember that our main goal is not to make a contest out of this. This is a special event to honor our Independence, but bagging all 13 will be nice-Right?
 
NOTE: One contact with a Thirteen Colonies state is sufficient for credit for that state. Additional contacts on other bands or with the other state station(s) will not get you any more credit. Please limit yourselves to one contact per state, so that others may have a chance.
This will give the stations with "no gain" antenna's, stations working 100W, QRP/Mobiles and DX a chance to get all "13" too! We are out to have some fun this 4th of July week, and will try to appease everyone. We thank you for your consideration in advance..
